Heather Callahan, PhD, JD, EMBA

Dr. Heather Callahan began her law career at Lyon & Lyon, LLP while going to law school at night at the University of San Diego School of Law. Before her legal career, she established and lead laboratories in biochemistry and molecular biology related to infectious disease at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in the US and Brazil. She has a B.A. from Tufts University, a Ph.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina, and did her post-doc at Harvard Medical School. She received Executive MBA from the Daniels School of Business at the University of Denver. Dr. Callahan is a California and Washington patent attorney, and has been practicing intellectual property law for more than 16 years. As the Head of Patent Development for Intellectual Ventures’ Invention Development Fund, she led a team of patent professionals across six countries developing and managing a large patent portfolio. She has also worked at several biotech start-ups providing business and intellectual property advice as well as management experience.
