Xiao-Jing Wang, MD, PhD

Dr. Wang received her M.D. and Ph.D. from Beijing Medical University. She came to the United States for her postdoctoral training at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, then Baylor College of Medicine, TX. At Baylor, she quickly rose through the ranks to tenured Associate Professor. In 2003, she was recruited to Oregon Health & Science University as a tenured Full Professor. In 2008, she was recruited as Director to establish a Head and Neck Cancer Research Program at the University of Colorado. She currently holds the John S. Gates Endowed Chair of Cancer Stem Cell Biology. Dr. Wang is an internationally renowned expert in skin biology and oral cancer and has studied Smad proteins for over 15 years. She won the prestigious William Montagna Award from the Society of Investigative Dermatology in 2014, which is given annually to investigators who have made outstanding contributions to research in skin biology. She has published over 130 research papers; many are in high impact scientific journals. Her scientific expertise and leadership skills have made her the leader of Allander.
